The Legal Oracle Story
Legal Oracle was born from Hamish's direct experience with the challenges of navigating complex legislative frameworks across multiple Australian jurisdictions. As a technology leader in law enforcement, he witnessed firsthand how difficult it could be for professionals to quickly access accurate and contextually relevant legal information.
In 2025, Hamish took the step of resigning from his executive role at SAPOL to found Legal Oracle, developing a purpose-built AI platform using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology specifically designed for Australian legislation. The platform provides direct citations to specific sections of legislation with verifiable references, ensuring users receive accurate and reliable information.
By creating custom embeddings and re-ranking systems tailored for legal document processing, Legal Oracle delivers accurate, context-aware insights across SA, VIC, and Commonwealth jurisdictions, with plans to expand to additional jurisdictions soon.

During his tenure at SAPOL, he led technology strategy and delivery for the state law enforcement agency, managing critical systems and sensitive data while driving digital transformation.
